DHEA

(Dehydroepiandrosterone)

DHEA is produced by the adrenal glands. DHEA production declines with age starting in the twenties. DHEA plays a critical role in maintaining our health, enhancing our immune system, and preventing disease. It is important to measure the level of this hormone in the blood prior to taking it as a supplement. Equally important is to remeasure the level after starting DHEA therapy to assure the level is in an optimal range.

Functions of DHEA:

  • Lowers cholesterol
  • Decreases formation of fatty deposits
  • Improves heart health
  • Slows the progression of diabetes
  • Promotes brain function
  • Supports the immune system
  • Increases energy and sense of well-being
